I came across your site by accident. I was looking for some information for my dad. He recently fell from a burning building three stories high. He had his foot amputated on Friday. Thanks for sharing your story, you truly are an inspiration, and I will share your journey with him. Best of luck to you, Take good care.

So here I am sitting up late, and I stop by my moms sight. And every time I see this site it reminds me that I'm lucky to have my mom here with me. Most of my coworkers and friends don't understand how we made it this far, but that's ok. I have my mom here and it's the holidays. What can I say I think God gave me my life long Christmas present when I was four. He gave me back my mom. Love you mom.

I sympathize with the loss of any life due to a drunk driver, especially since I myself and my mother were recently surviving victims of such a Criminal. Due to our pain and trauma I am creating a website dedicated to fellow victims with discussion forums for passing along information and support. Please visit our site and perhaps share with us and with others your own experiences as victims of a drunk driver. http://www.bratcat.net/drunk-punks/drunk-punk P.S...Very nice site!

I just read your August 5 entry. I wish I could help in some way, but waiting and refabricating is just the way it goes. I know it's a real pain and real frustration after all you have been through. You are just doing a great job as always, and I am as always very impressed by what a good health care consumer you are and how well you think about yourself and what you have to do. Praise isn't as as handy as a new leg, but it's the best I've got. Good luck Elle! -Sue

I wanted to know more about your leg injury. My sister was in a car accident on Nov. 3, 2004. Her husband was killed instantly and my sister's lower leg was shattered as well as her foot. She was literally broken on every limb of her body but her worst injury was her right leg. She now has about 3 metal plates, and about 12 screws and pins. She is considering the bone fusion surgery because of the pain and problems she is still experiencing. Do you have any advice for her. She is only 29 and has a four year old daughter. She has been through a terrible ordeal emotionally and physically. She still suffers daily. The pain in her foot is getting almost unbearable for her. I wanted to know how your leg injury has healed. Thanks and God Bless. Tabitha

I logged on to the site tonight to read my mother's story. I couldn't make it passed the first line without starting to cry. I read the whole thing and realized that no matter how I felt after the wreck my mom had to deal with this on her own for so long. I can never thank her enough for the way that she raised me. There are times that I sit and think back on all the years it was just me and her and think why me. It wasn't me that went through the wreck though. I haven't lost my leg (Which isn't lost it's in a box in the truck.) I haven't had to live through the things she's had to. I'm just her daughter, and I was a spectator in all this. There are still times that I sit up at night and cry, hating the woman who did this to my mother. Then I have to remind myself that she has to live with the knowledge of what she has done to another person. I may not be the best daughter (And I know I'm not) and that there are times that my mom may look at me and go are you even my kid, but I love my mother, and I have seen her do so much. She is stronger than any person that I know and I love her and always will. I have never seen her give up, and she pushes herself harder than anyone that I know. She is always finding new ways to grow and gain back the things she couldn't do after the wreck. If I had to really describe my mother I would have to say that she is like a rose. She is beautiful and sweet, but there are also the thorns. So in short (Or long with the way I type.) My mom is the best mom that I could ever have and I love her. Even if I don't deserve her sometimes.

I'm glad to see that your neuroma responded, a least partially. Good luck with the pros. It's a delight to hear about your dog- what a great pair! I love winter but we still have over than a foot on the ground and giant snowbanks everywhere, more than half way through March. Makes me envy all your outdoor activities. Pretty soon it will start to melt and we will be in mud season, the hardest part of the year. Best wishes as always, Sue B.

Hi Elle' Here is a poem written by Audrey Hepburn - I thought of you. For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of the each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself and the other for helping others. I love it !! Thank you!

Elle', my old friend, I miss you still and always. Hope you are doing better, as I have had no news or email from our mutual friend since Christmas, and no mention of how you are. I pray all my old friends here are well, and, if it is God's will, we will be in touch once again, very soon. I need the spiritual and plain old encouragement I got from you. Love you much, Kathy
